The Islanders recall of Kevin Poulin raised some eyebrows yesterday as many people wondered why he was needed with Nabokov & Montoya healthy and playing well. To add to the intrigue its been announced that Poulin will be getting the start tonight for the Islanders as they face the Carolina Hurricanes. Aside from something that I'm unaware of like a pending trade or injury, the only thing I could possibly come up with as a reason for this would be that the Isles are worried that coming off of the All-Star break both Isles goalies at the NHL level might be rusty and Poulin wouldn't be. Regardless it is definitely an interesting decision.
Along with Poulin the Islanders recalled Rhett Rakhshani who will play in place of Brian Rolston. This move has been way overdue and I'm very excited to see the positive impact it will make on the team.
