NHL FREE AGENT SIGNINGS:
This is what I will be using tomorrow to keep track of all signings and where I will give my review's on most of them:
Date | Player Name | 10-11 Team | 10-11 Cap-Hit | New Team | New Cap-Hit & Terms (years, etc.) | Signing Grade & Thoughts (A+...F-) |
7/1 | Josh Harding | Wild | $1,200,000 | Wild | 1 Year Cap-Hit: $750K | B+, This is a great deal for the Wild as it re-ups Harding at almost half what he was getting last season. Everyone knows he is a solid goalie which is why I am surprised he is not trying to get a starting job. |
7/1 | Patrick Eaves | Red Wings | $750,000 | Red Wings | 3 Years Cap-Hit: $1,200,000 | B-, This is a solid deal which I think has a nice low cap-hit. Three years for him is a bit surprising, but its obvious that the Wings liked him enough to rap him up for awhile. |
7/1 | James Wisniewski | Canadiens | $3,250,000 | Columbus | 6 Years Cap-Hit: $5,500,000 | C, This deal is a big, BIG overpayment and its a lot longer than I would have been comfortable with. Don't get me wrong, I like the Wiz but lets face it, he is a second pairing defenseman and the Jackets are paying him like a great top pairing guy. This deal is a classic desperation over payment |
7/1 | Chris Higgins | Canucks | $1,600,000 | Canucks | 2 Years Cap-Hit: $1,900,000 | B, Solid deal and I was hoping the Islanders would be able to bring him home to Long Island but guess not. |
7/1 | Tyler Kennedy | Penguins | $725,000 | Penguins | 2 Years Cap-Hit: $2,000,000 | B+, Great deal. I was really hoping he would go free and the Islanders might be able to take a run at him. |
