Jets Waive Kulda

Jets Waive Arturs Kulda; Might Be A Nice Fit With The Isles
Today the Winnipeg Jets waived defenseman Arturs Kulda. The decision to waive Kulda may be due to their claim of Antti Miettinen from the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kulda is twenty-three years old and has only played 15 NHL games in his career. It seems like I say this all the time, but the Islanders should really look into the possibility of acquiring him. The Isles defense corps have been dismantled by injuries to Andrew MacDonald and Mark Eaton, and along with Mike Mottau's sub-par play, the need for a solid defenseman is stronger than ever. Along with the need for a shut-down defenseman, the Isles could use another lefty on the back-end. Not only would it be a good pick-up for today's team, but I think at his age he has a lot of potential he has yet to reach that could make him a real good player down the line. If the Islanders don't claim him, I fully expect to see him go to another team.
