Pandolfo Out 4-6 Weeks

Jay Pandolfo Out Four To Six Weeks With A Broken Foot:
According to Arthur Staple, Jay Pandolfo has suffered a broken foot and will miss the next four to six weeks. Pandolfo was one of two camp invites that ended up on the regular season roster (the other being Steve Staios) and although he hasn't been a game changer, he has not been a liability at all. He has been great on the penalty kill and has given a hundred percent every game, unlike some other veteran off-season acquisitions. At his age though, he was usually not much of a factor in even-strength situations. I hate to see any player, especially a hard-working Islander, go down with an injury, but I am very happy that there will be a spot open for Nino Niederreiter now. Judging by Nino's tweet during Friday's game (you can see that here) he has been given very little in the way of answers regarding his status and how he can get back into the line-up. The last thing you want a top prospect like Nino doing is second guessing himself, and I think he's begun to do that. Its imperative that the Islanders make a decision with Niederreiter and either insert him in the line-up or return him to the 'dub' and with this injury the Islanders have a clear opportunity to get him back in the line-up.
