Comeau Speculation Running Rampant As He's Scratched Again

Blake Comeau openly stated that he was under the assumption that he was a member of the Islanders group of "core" young players. Unfortunately for him, it appears he was wrong. The Islanders announced earlier today that Comeau will be sitting out his second straight game, in favor of Trevor Gillies. Gillies being the tough S.O.B. that he is, was a player that needed to be dressed against the Islanders heated rival, the Rangers, but in a game versus the Lightning, a team that has no real tough guys, whats the point? Don't get me wrong, I like having Gillies in the line-up, but at the expense of Blake Comeau, I'm against it. Comeau is a proven NHL'er who last season netted 24 goals and 22 assists for 46 points. That type of production from a player who played 3rd line minutes is terrific. Being this early into the season, its hard to imagine that Comeau would have already gotten into Capuano's dog house. You would have to think that there is something going on here, whether it be a pending trade or not, his future on Long Island doesn't seem as bright as he would have hoped.
