Isles Talking Trade With Bruins

Isles Talking Trades With Bruins...Bergeron A Possible Target?

The Islanders always seem to be discussing trades that never materialize into anything, and this particular instance will probably end up in that same category, but never-the-less there is definitely SOMETHING being discussed. As of right now it seems to be just preliminary discussions, but I could see it progressing further tomorrow. For the past few days or so, the Isles have been talking to the Boston Bruins about a trade that would be fairly significant. I am not too sure of the details surrounding the deal aside from the player the Islanders are targeting. That player seems to be Patrice Bergeron, whom the Islanders have had interest in for a few years. The twenty-six year old, Bergeron is extremely talented offensively and has proven himself as a big-time point producer in the NHL throughout his career. Along with that, he does a real nice job in his own end. There is no doubt that the addition of Patrice Bergeron would do wonders for the Islanders, but the question needs to be asked...what would the Isles have to give up? You would have to think the return to the Bruins would be significant considering Bergeron's value to their club and I for one, would hope that Garth Snow doesn't sacrifice any top prospects just yet. Regardless of what ends up happening, it will be very interesting to see if anything materializes out of these negotiations
