New York Islanders Place Trevor Gillies On Waivers

The Islanders have decided to place Trevor Gillies on waivers today and according to the Islanders official twitter account if he clears he will be reassigned to the Sound Tigers. Now I am no fan of having Gillies play against physically weak teams, but lets face it, we need a tough guy against teams like the Rangers and Flyers and this year we seem to have forgotten that. Last season the Islanders gained a "take no prisoners" attitude that helped the team grow together and win a few games and unfortunately it seems like the Isles management has broken that apart. No Konopka, no Haley, and now no Gillies. The Islanders better call-up Haley or this team is going to get their butt handed to them night in and night out. I am not 100 percent sure Gillies will clear because honestly if Brian McGrattan can get picked up so can Trevor Gillies, but personally I am hoping Gillies goes unclaimed so he will be able to protect the kids down in Bridgeport.
