Reaction:
During Daniel Carcillo's NHL career he's struggled with discipline, but before he got injured this year he was beginning to turn a corner. His 2010-11 season with the Philadelphia Flyers was his worst season in his NHL career. He missed 25 games because of injury and suspension, had a career low in points and penalty minutes, and had the second lowest plus/minus of his NHL career (-14). Due to that, the Flyers decided not to qualify Carcillo and he became an unrestricted free-agent. Early on July 1st, the Blackhawks were able to get him under contract on a one-year deal.

In his first 28 games with his new club he looked like Daniel Carcillo 'of old'. He was already close to doubling his offensive point production of 2010-11, and he had the best plus/minus he's had in his career with a plus-10. He was fitting in really well with Chicago's top-six forward group and according to Blackhawk fans the club played their best hockey when he was in the line-up.

This deal keeps will keep him in Chicago for the next two-years under very reasonable terms. If he is able to start next season where he left off before he got injured this year, his cap-hit of $825,000 will be a steal for the Blackhawks.
