Senators, Lightning Swap Defensemen

Tampa Bay Lightning Acquire: Brian Lee
Ottawa Senators Acquire: Matt Gilroy

Review:
The Tampa Bay Lightning acquire a twenty-four year old, 6'3 defenseman in Brian Lee. Lee was drafted by the Senators with the ninth overall selection in the 2005 draft. Since then he's been a bit of a disappointment and has been placed on waivers once before. This season though, he has looked a little more comfortable at the NHL level. He's a restricted free agent so he will be another new depth defenseman in the Lightning's restructured defense corps. Matt Gilroy, the Bellmore native, has had a decent season as well, but as a pending unrestricted free agent the Lightning decided to begin to look towards next season. As a team that looks to be headed to the playoffs, Gilroy will provide a nice veteran presence on the Senators blue-line and will take some of the offensive load off of Erik Karlsson.
