NHL Rumor Update: September 18th, 2011
Cory Schneider On The Move? Its been pretty much assumed that Schneider at some time in the future will be moved, but its looking like that time will be coming soon. The Nucks are in discussions with a handful of teams, but as of right now (according to Andy Strickland) the leading candidates are the Blue Jackets and the Coyotes. I personally believe the best fit would be the Coyotes and I believe they are ideal trade partners. The asking price for Schneider is a 1st round pick and an NHL ready player, which is definitely an expensive price. I think we might see a trade between the Coyotes and Canucks based around Cory Schneider going to the Coyotes and Kyle Turris going to the Canucks.
Bryan McCabe Still In Discussions With A Few Teams:
McCabe is arguably the best free agent defenseman right now and there are quite a few clubs interested in acquiring his services. Vancouver and the Blues both have expressed some significant interest in him, and it appears the Islanders have also contacted him.
Bruins And Kings Discussing Trade:
The Kings trouble signing Drew Doughty is well documented, but now its looking very serious. Apparently the Boston Bruins have noticed the situation and it appears they have begun a dialogue with the Kings regarding the possibility of acquiring Doughty. The talks are still in the preliminary stages, but its something to keep an eye on. One would imagine that the Bruins would have to give up Tyler Seguin in any trade for Doughty.
