Waiver Update-9/24/2011:

One of the biggest waiver days of the year for sure, there are a lot of quality players on the wire right now. If I was a GM, I would seriously consider some of these players.

Today's Players Waived:

Interesting:

C- Stefan Chaput (Bruins): Twenty-three year old forward, who seems to be decent at everything, but not great at anything. Has been moved around a lot in his short career which definitely raises some eyebrows in my opinion, but he might be a nice under-the-radar type pick-up. 

D- Shaone Morrisonn (Sabres): Big 6'4'' defenseman who, at 28 years old, should be just getting into his prime. Last season was not his best, but he has had some good moments in the NHL. He is good in his own end and he uses his size well. He might be a good fit for the Islanders. 

C- Evan Brophey (Avalanche): Twenty-four year old center, who is best in his own zone. Really solid two-way guy, but doesn't have much offensive upside at all. Might be a solid depth defensive forward.

LW- Greg Mauldin (Avalanche): He is a really good AHL player. He also is comfortable in the NHL, when he is needed. He is a quick and aggressive player, which is something thats always liked from a bottom-six forward. 

D- Pavel Valentenko (Rangers)- Only 23 years old, and NHL ready. I'm surprised the Rangers waived him with Staal hurt. Valentenko is a physical defenseman, who is able to use his size well. Not great offensively, but he can get by. He would be a great pick-up for the Islanders.

RW- Stefan Legein (Flyers)- Feisty winger, who does a great job at getting under opponents skin while playing a solid game. Has some goal scoring ability and at 22 years old he has a lot of upside he has yet to reach.

RW- Francois Bouchard (Capitals)-Young winger that is pretty much NHL ready. He has some skill and has put up some good numbers in the AHL.
