Islanders Rumor Update: July 21, 2011
The New York Islanders are supposedly working the phones and have a few different things brewing. A few sources reported this morning that the Islanders have been discussing a deal with the Sabres that would send the Isles Jason Pominville. If thats the case, I won't complain as I believe Pominville would be the type of top-six forward this team needs to add. Along with that, many media personnel close to the Islanders have reported that they are trying to add a top defenseman to their roster. I believe a likely target on the back-end would be the New York native, Zach Bogosian. Actually, I have heard the Isles and Jets discussed a deal a few weeks ago, where the Isles would've landed Bogosian, but it remains to be seen if anything came out of those talks. As if that wasn't enough, it also seems as though the Islanders have expressed interest in Teemu Hartikainen of the Edmonton Oilers. The Oilers have made it clear though that he will not come easily. I fully expect a flurry of action in the next few days from the Islanders, so keep an eye open. As I hear more, or more is reported, I will post further updates.
