Jesse Joensuu Signs In Swedish Elite League

Jesse Joensuu was extended a qualifying offer by the Islanders, but it looks as though he will be leaving North America and signing in Sweden. Joensuu has agreed to a two-year contract with HV71 of the Swedish Elite League. Despite him leaving the NHL, the Isles will still hold his rights because of that qualifying offer. Joensuu was unimpressive in most of his Islander tenure, and he was a bit in "my doghouse" throughout last season. Its no major loss for the Islanders....actually its not a loss at all. All that comes from this is that now the Islanders will have to find some scoring for Bridgeport.
