Review:
Last year was Andy Mac's real breakout season but this year was important as well. He not only proved that last year was no fluke but he also was able to establish himself as a terrific offensive defenseman. He put up 27 points in 6o games which led all Islanders defensemen. Many of those points resulted from his terrific Power Play performance and his new found ability to QB said Power Play. He also has a plus-9 rating that is extremely solid considering for half the year the Islanders had problems keeping goals out of their own net. He struggled with some injury troubles (Broken hand, broken nose, labral tear) but his play through the injuries was encouraging especially with the latest injury. According to various sources, he tore his labral in his right hip in February and he played through the pain for a little over 6 weeks. The first reaction to that is worry that he might have permanently injured it but the second reaction was amazement in his determination.

Season Grade (A+ to F-): A-
- He put up a ton of points and was put out in every situation. I entered the season expecting him to be our 2nd pairing d-man and to get PK time. But when Mark Streit went down, he became our number 1 defenseman and got considerable PP and PK time. He really met and exceeded all expectations. The only thing that kept him from getting a higher grade was his injuries which probably resulted from the over-whelming amount of Ice-time he received.
