2010-11 Season Stats:
Bridgeport Sound Tigers AHL: GP: 51  G: 2  A: 7  P: 9 PIM: 28

Short-Term Status:
He will remain down in Bridgeport next season and possibly be one of the first call-ups in case of injury. He was very useful for the Tigers this season and I am sure the Isles were happy with what they saw from him. Most of all, the next few years will be about giving Klementyev as much time as possible to develop.

Long-Term Status
He was a "shot in the dark" draft pick that has seemingly worked out and I could see him down the line developing into a solid bottom pairing defenseman. He has some potential he has yet to reach but I believe his upside is a shut down guy that can occasionally chip in with an assist here and there. He is not flashy or great at anything but is solid in many facet's of the game. All this makes him a prospect that has a chance to be an everyday Islander sometime in the future.

Review:
Due to the huge amount of injuries in the NHL and AHL for the Isles organization, he was tossed into a top role for Bridgeport. Although he handled it well, ideally he would have been given a lesser amount of work to let him appropriately develop his game. His play this season reminded me very much of current Islander Radek Martinek, and he appears to play a style that replicates what Martinek brings to the table similarly. One stat that I found very telling is that on an AWFUL Bridgeport club he was able to maintain a decent plus/minus with a -3 which was 3rd best of all Sound Tiger Defensemen that played at least 20 games and it was 2nd best of any Sound Tiger Defenseman that were under contract by the Islanders. With how much he was used, the fact that he kept his plus/minus where it was is very encouraging.

Season Grade (A+ to F-): B-
He played better than I would have expected and honestly this season proved to me that he might have NHL potential. He plays a style that is effective in the NHL and would be very useful for any bottom pair. I see him being apart of the Isles future defense for sure. I believe he is a very intriguing prospect.
