New York Islanders          NHL: GP:10 GAA:2.44 W:4 L:2 OTL:1 SAVE %:0.924

Short-Term Status: Next year, because of the extension given to Al Montoya, he will most likely split time between the AHL and NHL. He will be the first goalie re-called when Rick DiPietro goes down to injury.
Long-Term Status: Has established himself as a legit contender to be the next starting goalie of the NY Islanders. His athletic style is perfect for this unique team and the year after next I believe he will become a 1b if not 1A for this club.

Review:
This season, Kevin Poulin really established himself as a legit threat to take over the Islanders starting job within the next few years. His play down in Bridgeport was incredible and his 2.19 GAA shows that. At just 20 year's old, Poulin was ripping up the AHL. Because of his young age and high upside yet to be reached, management was hoping to keep him down there to further develop but due to a series of unfortunate circumstances (DiPietro and Lawson Injuries, Nabokov refusing to report), the Isles were forced to throw Poulin right into the fire. But, he was better than anyone could have hoped for in his 10 games of NHL action. He made plenty of big-time saves and really proved that his play in the AHL was no fluke. Of coarse, as soon as it looked like the Isles were going to ride Poulin down the stretch, he got his unlucky season ending injury during warm-ups on February 8th against the Maple Leafs. It was then announced that he had suffered a dislocated left knee cap and would miss the remainder of the season.

Season Grade (A+ to F-): A
-He really did everything this franchise could have been hoping he'd do (of coarse except getting injured) and he really surpassed all expectations that people may have had. He WILL be a top 15 goaltender in this league and this year proved it to me.
