2010-11 Season Stats:

New York Islanders             NHL:  GP: 60  G: 4  A: 23  P: 27  PIM: 37

Short-Term Status:
This season he proved he is NHL ready so I am sure he is a lock for being in the Islanders top 6 come next year. Ideally he will have less responsibility than what he was strapped with this season, but he should still see decent minutes. I personally would like to see him getting a spot on the 2nd pairing and receiving some power play minutes.

Long-Term Status:
He will be a key piece of the Islanders for a long, long time. He will be a top pairing defenseman within the next few years and a player that is talented enough to be put out in every situation. I feel as though he is going to be a very important piece of the power play in the future with a big chance of eventually taking over as the number one PP QB.

Review:
He played far better than anyone could have hoped and established himself as a terrific player for the future. I have always been a big fan of Hamonic since the day the Isles drafted him but even I did not expect to see him come up to the NHL this season and play so outstandingly. He was known by many as a defenseman primarily focused on shutting down the other team. Although he did prove that true, he also showed that he can be a top point producer from the blue-line as he finished up the season with the sixth most points of all rookie defensemen despite playing at least 10 games less than any others between one and five. His all-around play was extremely impressive as he literally did everything you would want from a defenseman. He was willing to play with a mean streak which helped his shut-down style improve. Game in and game out he played like a seasoned veteran which surprised most once they realized that he was actually a 20 year old rookie. He will be a stud on this Islanders defense for a long time.

Season Grade (A+ to F-)A+
INCREDIBLE SEASON, just an overall great year that cemented my view of him becoming one of the best defenseman the Isles have. Aside from 2 or 3 games he was consistently a capable top 4 defensemen. I was so impressed with him and I really look forward to watching him on the Isles blue-line for a long time.
