The Phoenix Coyotes signed undrafted forward Andy Miele to an entry-level contract on Saturday. Miele completed his senior season with the highest point total in all of college hockey (71) on 24 goals and 47 assists in 39 games for the Miami-Ohio RedHawks. "We are very pleased to sign Andy," said Coyotes general manager Don Maloney. "He is a highly skilled and competitive player who had a great season at Miami University. He was one of the most sought after NCAA free agents and is a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award. We look forward to watching him develop and being a part of our organization for years to come." The 22-year-old, who is a native of suburban Detroit, was named the CCHA player of the year and earned First Team All-CCHA honors along with the conference tournament MVP after racking up 56 points in league play and leading Miami to a CCHA playoff title. All told, Miele posted 60 goals and 160 points in 141 games for Miami-Ohio, which fell to New Hampshire in the first round of the NCAA tournament last weekend. Miele is one of three players eligible to be voted college hockey's top player with the Hobey Baker, whose winner will be announced next Friday.
