The Islanders have had an interesting uniform history, as most of us know, and it looks as though that trend will continue. As released earlier by Reebok in catalogs to retailers, the Islanders will be introducing a new alternate jersey this off-season. The part that's a little troubling is that there are rumors going around that the jersey will be black. These rumors originated from a few retailers that had the privilege of being told the details of the jersey. I know, I know....it doesn't make any sense but I guess if any team was going to randomly add a color to their uniforms for ****s and gigs, it would be the Islanders. It may be a move to identify with Mets and Knicks fans or just another attempt to be "different". I believe the Islanders had finally done the right thing by bringing back their vintage uniforms, which in my opinion are one of the best uniform sets in the league, but if this rumor is true, they better do it right or it will ruin all past progress made.
