According to Bob McKenzie, the Flyers have placed Winger Nik Zherdev on Waivers, Sabres have placed Defenseman Craig Rivet on Waivers, Nashville have placed Marek Svatos on Waivers, and the Flames put Ales Kotalik on Re-Entry Waivers. In my opinion all 3 players put on regular waivers could be picked up. Rivet, in this defenseman crazy market should get some decent looks from teams despite his big contract. His leadership and strong physical ability should be a selling point to possible playoff team. Zherdev should be picked up, the talent level he brings is going to be very hard for some teams to pass up. According to IncarceratedBob, the Penguins, Devils, Islanders, and Capitals all have interest in possibly bringing in the 26 year old winger. So far this year Zherdev has 15 goals and 4 assists for 19 points. He is incredibly talented, but his work ethic and determination has been called into question more than a few times. Svatos, at one time, was a 30 goal scorer but he has fallen off dramatically in the past 3 years or so. But I would not be surprised to see a team take a flyer on him.
