Waiver Update February 26th 2011

Yesterday's Players Placed On Waivers:

Marco Sturm (Kings): Claimed Off Waivers by the Washington Capitals: I knew he would be claimed but I didn't expect the Capitals. Sturm, when healthy, is a good top 6 forward. Last season he put up 22 goals and 15 assists for 37 points with the Boston Bruins.

Nick Boynton (Blackhawks): Claimed Off Waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers: This one surprised me, as he has been a very average/below average defenseman in the past 2 years or so but with Pronger's injury, the Flyers were in need of a cheap Defenseman.

Craig Rivet (Buffalo): Claimed Off Re-Entry Waivers by Blue Jackets: Rivet is a good veteran defenseman so I am not surprised a team took a flyer on him even though he has a big contract. Good to see one of the "good guys" in the game get another shot.

Mike Commadore (Blue Jackets): Clears Re-Entry Waivers

Kris Newbury (Rangers): Clears Waivers

Todd Ford (Capitals): Clears Waivers

Wade Belak (Nashville): Clears Waivers

Today's Waiver Update:

Jason Jaffray (Ducks): AHL caliber player, should clear.

Tim Stapelton (Thrashers): Depth forward, so far this year he has played 25 NHL games and only has one assist. Should clear.

Brett Carson (Hurricanes): 25 year old defenseman that has played 12 NHL games this year with no points but last season he played 54 NHL games and got 12 points. I could definitley see someone taking a chance on him.

Nathan Lawson (Isles): Interesting move because as of right now, the Isles have no other goalies to take his spot. Might have something up their sleeve.

Robbie Schremp (Isles): Might get picked up, he has a lot of offensive skill. I will write an article on this in the next 24 hours.

Pascal Leclaire (Sens): He has totally flopped since the Sens traded for him and has had a nightmare time in Ottawa. Should be interesting to see if anyone picks him up.

Ty Conklin (Blues): Someone should take him, one of the best back-ups out there.

Curtis McElhinny (Tampa): Was obvious when the Dan Ellis trade was made that this would happen. Should clear.

DJ King (WAS): I cannot believe the Caps traded Stefan Della Rovere for this guy. He will clear.

We will have to wait until Monday to see who clears and who dosn't
