The Chicago Blackhawks are closing in on a deal. Rumors are its going to be for a defenseman, and one of the names I have heard is Radek Martinek of the NY Islanders. Looking at recent moves made by the Blackhawks, it suggests we should see a move made within the next few days, possibly in the next few hours. They have sent down defenseman Nick Leddy which is probably to save some cap space, they also waived defenseman Nick Boynton and from what I have heard if he clears he will be sent to Rockford. That would leave Chicago one defenseman short and indicates something is in the works. Aside from Martinek, other possible targets include Ladislav Smid of the Oilers.
