To Hurricanes:
Cory Stillman

To Panthers:
Ryan Carter
5th Round Draft Pick in 2011
Review:
Cory Stillman is being brought back for another go around with the Hurricanes. He was a great player with the Hurricanes back in 2006 when they won a Stanley Cup. He was an important member of that championship club. He cannot really be expected to contribute as much as he did then but he should add some offense to the Hurricanes 3rd line. So far this year he has put up 23 points through 43 games and on a sub-par Florida Panthers team he had a plus-4 rating which is impressive. The Hurricanes gave up Ryan Carter and a fifth-round draft pick in 2011. Ryan Carter is a decent 27 year old forward who is going to play a role on the Panthers 4th line. But what the Panthers really wanted was the draft pick which although late (5th round) its still an asset for the re-building club.
Short-Term Winner: Hurricanes, they get a solid veteran that can put up points. He has already played in Carolina and had a lot of success so the Canes are hoping they can replicate that. They didn't have to give up much so there is really no downside.
Long-Term Winner: Panthers, for a guy they had no use for (Stillman) they were able to get a draft pick and a bottom 6 forward.
