Review:
The Ducks are able to acquire a terrific agitator that can also play the game well, for relatively nothing. Jarkko Ruutu is the type of player that can be very useful on an a competitive NHL team. He plays a strong defensive game and his agitating, under your skin style is one of the most efficient of all NHL players. Ruutu, who last year had a career high 26 points, will be useful to the Ducks who are hoping to make a strong playoff push. The 6th Round Draft Pick has such a small chance of producing an NHL player that I am sure the Ducks are happy with this deal. The Sens here make another re-building move and ship out a guy they had no interest in retaining. Although its a low pick, the Senators will take any draft picks or prospects they can. Its looking like, their goal is to get a completely clean start and move any players they would like to rid themselves of for the best offer at that moment.


Winner Short-Term: Ducks, as they are able to get an effective agitator that will provide a veteran presence for the younger players on the team.


Winner Long-Term: Ducks again, the chances that the 6th Round Draft Pick will produce an NHL player are very small. The Ducks are able to get a player that will help them this year and possibly for next season.
