Chris Phillips Staying In Ottawa?

Bruce Garrioch reported earlier today that Chris Phillips had said that he wants to remain a Senator. He follows that by saying he would like to remain and help with the re-building process of the club. Phillips is a very useful defenseman but its still up for debate if its in the Sens organization's best interest to retain him, as they would almost definitely get a sizable and effective return. But if they decide they would like to keep him with the team, they will have to come to an extension by July 1st of this year. It will be an interesting story line to keep an eye on.

UPDATE:

Pierre LeBrun is reporting that the Sens GM Bryan Murray has not talked to Phillips' agent and is not aware of any particular desire Phillips may have to remain a Sen for the future.
