Conklin, Janssen Will Not Be Brought Back By Blues
According to Andy Strickland, the St. Louis Blues will let Cam Janssen and Ty Conklin become Unrestricted Free Agents on July 1st. His team source has informed him, that there will be no attempt to re-sign them. Conklin not being retained is not a surprise given the fact that he was waived earlier in the year and management was not overly pleased with his performance. Personally, I believe Conklin has been, throughout his career, one of the better back-up goaltenders in the NHL. He provides a good vet presence and can play well when needed. I think there will definitely be a decent-sized market for him. I am a bit disappointed that they are letting Cam Janssen walk even though Blues fans seem to have been expecting it for some time. Janssen has been with the club for the past four seasons and has been a solid role player. He doesn't provide much else, but every team needs a tough guy and he did a good job being that person for the Blues.
