Flyers Will NOT Offer-Sheet Steven Stamkos
Tim Panaccio recently talked to Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren regarding the status of the rumored offer-sheet that they would be presenting to Tampa Bay Lightning star and current Restricted Free Agent, Steven Stamkos. Holmgren had this to say:
"We're not going to do anything on it. We explored it and decided it's not the way for us to go at this time."
Which basically ends the big-time speculation that they would end up being the club who sends a massive offer-sheet to Stamkos. There had been talk of an enormous offer of $115 million over 12 years with a full no-trade clause that Flyers brass had been formulating to lure Stamkos into the orange and black. Unfortunately for those that were hoping for the endless entertainment that this move would provide, it looks as though they have decided against it. Now that the Flyers are no longer a possible destination for Stamkos, it will be interesting to see if any other teams decide they would like to pry him away from Tampa. My personal belief is that the Lightning will end up being able to sign him, even though they will almost definitely have to pay a big price.
