Minor Re-Signings...#4

D. Jay Harrison (Hurricanes): 2 Year Extension
-1st Year: $650,000
-2nd Year: $750,000
Thoughts:
Harrison is a very strong, stay-at-home type defenseman, this past season was his first full one in the NHL and he was decent. I expect him to be on the bottom-pairing for the Hurricanes which given his playing style, will be the best situation for him.

D. Dan Spang (Stars)1 Year Extension (2-Way)
-$525,000 Per Year (NHL) & $105,000 Per Year (AHL)
Thoughts:
He put up very solid numbers with Texas of the AHL, last season. In 77 games, he put up 10 goals and 27 assists for 37 points, which led all Texas defensemen. The Dallas Stars decided to give him a pro-contract, which will give them more flexibility on the back-end.

G. Richard Bachman (Stars): 1 Year Extension (2-Way)
-$550,000 Per Year (NHL) & $70,000 Per Year (AHL)
Thoughts:
The small 5'10", goaltender Richard Bachman, had a very impressive season in 2010-11. He had a 2.20 GAA and a .927 save percentage, both of which were near the top of the league. This is only his second pro-season and his first full AHL season. This signing is a low-risk, high-reward type deal, and I expect Bachman to see some time at the NHL level during the 2011-12 season.

D. Sean Zimmerman (Ducks): 1 Year Extension (2-Way)
-$525,000 Per Year (NHL) & $75,000 Per Year (AHL)
Thoughts:
Zimmerman is a defensive-defenseman, and has played 200+ games in the AHL. Unfortunately for him, he has yet to play an NHL game and I am not sure he will this upcoming season. He is an average AHL defenseman, who in my opinion doesn't have a lot of room for improvement. This is purely a depth move.
