Devils And Wild Swap AHL'ers

New Jersey Devils Receive
Maxim Noreau

Minnesota Wild Receive

David McIntyre

Review:
Although this may seem like a minor deal, I really think people should realize this could be a solid move for both of these organizations. Maxim Noreau has been an absolute beast in the American Hockey League. The offense he provides from the backend has been remarkable. In 2009-10, he put up 18 goals and 34 assists for 52 points and this past season he had 10 goals and 44 assists for 54 points. His performance this season earned him a spot on the AHL First All-Star Team and it was well-deserved in my opinion. With how much he has shown at the AHL level, you can't deny he has some upside and by joining the Devils, who lack offensive-defensemen depth, he will get the opportunity to fulfill that upside at the NHL level. The player that was sent in return for Noreau was David McIntyre. McIntyre is hard worker, who gives his all every shift. He is not the most talented, but he makes up for it with heart. He is is probably going to spend next season in the AHL, but down the line he will be a solid bottom-six forward for the Wild.

Short-Term Winner: Devils, they get a big-time offensive defenseman and they are desperate for a PP-QB, if (big if) he is able to find a way to get his game to translate at the NHL level, they may have just found their man.

Long-Term Winner: It all depends on if Noreau is able to carry over his impressive play in the AHL to the NHL. If he is able to, the Devils win this one big. If he isn't able to, I am sure McIntyre will play, at least for a little while, in the NHL in some capacity which would then make them the winner of this deal.
