Trevor Gillies Signs A One Year Extension With The Isles

Despite the fact that it's been pretty well known that this signing was imminent, Trevor Gillies' extension is official today as the NY Islanders announced on their Twitter Account that he has been re-signed to a one-year, two-way contract. Earlier this month, the Islanders released details of their draft party which included a "stache station" that will give out fake Trevor Gillies mustaches, which if he wasn't going to be brought back would have been peculiar, to say the least. According to Chris Botta, Islanders management LOVE Gillies and never questioned having him stay in the organization. I, for one, like Gillies, but I was not at all pleased with his dangerous antics last season. If he cleans up his game a little bit, and returns to the way he played in 2009-10, I would be happy with him being our enforcer. I have a feeling though, that he will not be spending as much time on Long Island as he did last year. I expect him to see a fair amount of time with the Sound Tigers and to be a guy that the Isles recall for the physical games throughout the season.
