Brent Burns Goes To Sharks In Blockbuster Trade

To San Jose Sharks:
Brent Burns
2nd Round Pick In 2012

To Minnesota Wild:
Devin Setoguchi
Charlie Coyle
1st Round Pick In 2011 (Zack Phillips)

Review:
Brent Burns is one of the best defensemen in the NHL and he will be a huge difference maker for the Sharks. Burns is a big, 6'5" D-man, who plays a slick two-way game. Offensively, he is terrific and had the 14th most points of any defenseman in the National Hockey League. He is a clear-cut top pairing guy who will do wonders paired up with Dan Boyle. The Sharks also received a 2nd round pick in next years draft which will be useful if they want to acquire a player down the stretch. Now there is no denying they got an incredible player and a nice draft pick, but they payed a big price. One player that was sent to Minnesota was recently re-signed Devin Setoguchi, who will be a nice addition to the Wild's top-six forward group. His offense will provide a big spark to the team with the 5th lowest goals for total this season. Charlie Coyle is the other player that was sent to Minnesota, and in my opinion will end up being the best player the Wild received in this trade. He has a great work-ethic and plays a very solid two-way style that seems to be his bread and butter. Along with him, they received a 1st rounder in this years draft which they used to select Zack Phillips.
Winner: Sharks
