NHL Draft Tonight

NHL DRAFT

My favorite players in the Draft:
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins- The best vision of anyone I have seen maybe in my life, he distributes the puck incredibly. If you put this guy on a line with a great goal-scorer, he will put up 70+ assists. This kid is legit and I am sure he will be a star. I just have that feeling with him, if the Oilers draft him (which I think they will), Taylor Hall and Nugent-Hopkins will be the type of dynamic duo that people talk about for years. Unfortunately, for that reason, I believe there is no way in hell the Islanders will have a chance to move up and grab this star in the making.

Adam Larsson- He is a stud, the ONLY reason he shouldn't be the clearcut number one is because of how talented Nugent-Hopkins is. He should be taken 2nd, and if he isn't, every team should be licking their chops and trying desperately to move up and grab him. He is that good, he has great size, and has the potential to be a stud. He is good in all zones, and I think he may be the most NHL ready of anyone in the draft. People have seemed to have soured on him in the past year, what I will say to them is, you're wrong.

Jonathan Huberdeau- The playoffs were incredible for Huberdeau and it solidified him in my mind as one of the top prospects in this draft. He plays with so much flair and excitement and he has so much skill. I look at him and I see a future star in this league. His instincts are impressive and he has that "it" factor that many teams look for with a high selection.

Ryan Strome- When he is "on", he's an absolute stud and a future star, but he needs to find the consistency. Now, despite me saying that, I don't believe it's as much of a problem as the media seems to think it is. He has the skill and the hockey sense to be a great player, the consistency and size will come with the development. I would be fine with the Isles selecting him at 5.

Dougie HamiltonI really like Dougie, he just is very good at both sides of the ice. I would like to see him use his big body a bit more, but I think if he is developed right that aspect of his game will come along and improve. He is very smart and has won the OHL's recognition for top scholastic player (Ivan Tennant Award) with a 97 percent average at Governor Simcoe School in St. Catharines, Ontario. That along with his impressive character and personality makes for a player that is perfect for the Isles system.

Ryan Murphy- He so ****ing skilled that its not even funny. He is the type of guy that if he is brought along right, he might very well be a superstar in this league. If he was 3 inches taller, he'd be the clearcut number one overall draft pick this year and would be labeled a generational talent.

Jamie Oleksiak- Now, I am sick of people labeling him as anything like Chara....he is not. This kid will make a name for himself and I believe he does a great job utilizing his huge size and playing an offensive game that most players this big have trouble doing. He skates very well for someone that size as well.

Tomas Jurco-He is just so skilled, he has sick stick skills that are really hard to find. If he is able to fulfill his potential, he will be good top-six winger. Those that doubt him, have not watched a whole game where he was "on". If he finds that consistency, watch out.

Scott Mayfield- Very raw, but has a lot of potential and that potential is very, very good. I think he has top-4 abilities in him and the team that drafts him will be happy with the outcome in about 4 years.

Rocco Grimaldi- Ok, he is very small, but that doesn't take away from how skilled he is. He puts points on the board and will always stand out because of his skating and speed. The size is a problem, but I truly feel that he will overcome that and be a productive NHL'er in some capacity.

Adam Clendening- He has a great offensive, puck-moving game, that he will need to groom for a few years. Once he does that, I think you're looking at a guy who will take top-4 minutes along with some Power Play time.

Markus Granlund- Not as talented as his brother, but has a lot of potential. If he is available in the 3rd round, someone would be very happy with grabbing him.

Kale KessyHe is a tough S.O.B., he fights better than anyone in the draft and never stops chirping at opponents. He does also play the game well, as he has some good offensive potential that will develop itself through time.

Dillon Simpson- Played at UND, and was solid, yet very raw. I think he will be a good one, but will need time. I like this kid in the mid-late rounds a lot.

Blake Coleman- Big-time steal in my opinion, once he gets more developed you're looking at a "Mike Richards" type forward.

Troy Vance- Big defenseman, he is raw, but is already very solid in his own zone. Watch him in the late rounds.

T.J. TynanOverager, who lit up the CCHA with Notre Dame in his rookie season. He may be small, but the team that grabs him will be pleased

Players I Hope The Islanders DON'T Draft:
Tyler Biggs- Not happy with his upside as I think he tops out as a 3rd line winger. He is projected to be drafted in the 1st round and that is not the type of kid you draft at that spot.

Seth Ambroz- Terrible interviews at the draft combine, and his character is a huge concern. His determination has been questioned for a while and its now the most suspect its ever been.

Gregory Hofmann- He has a lot of talent, but its a big question mark if he wants to cross the pond.

Scott OkeShouldn't even be drafted, let-alone in the mid-rounds. I really don't like his upside.
