According to Chris Botta, the Islanders are most likely going to let Zenon Konopka walk as an Unrestricted Free Agent. He was a big asset in the locker room for the Islanders and if this rumor is true, it will upset many players who had the pleasure of being a part of the close-nit group of guys that Konopka was able to lead. The fact that his leadership was terrific was just one aspect of his positive impact on the team, his face-off taking ability was by far the best on the Isles, he was a very good fighter, and he worked his butt off every shift. I will be very upset if the Isles decide to let him go and as of right now it looks as though that will be the case.
