Minnesota has waived defenseman, Cam Barker with the intentions of buying him out. The once 3rd overall selection in the 2004 draft was very highly touted and its looking like he will be heading towards "bust"status. He had an awful season and if he wants to play in the NHL next year, he will have to take a significant pay-cut from who ever is interested in him. At 25 years old, he has time to improve and work on his game, but he will need to do it fairly quickly if he wants to stay in this league. Known primarily as a puck-moving, offensive defenseman, it's troubling that through 52 games last season he was only able to put up a minuscule 5 points. That season total, turned out to be the lowest of any year in his entire NHL career. I expect there to be quite a few teams that are willing to give him another shot.
If the Wild end up buying him out, this is how the money would shake out....
